Lead Machine Learning Solutions Architect
Location: Hybrid (Mainly London based - ad-hoc on-site)
Duration: 6 months rolling
Rate: £800pd to £1200pd (Negotiable - please tell us what you are looking for)
We are looking for an experienced Lead Machine Learning Solutions Architect who can bring applied AI expertise and a proven track record of shipping AI-enabled user-facing applications at scale. As a Lead AI Solutions Architect you will be enabled to drive the vision and execution of various AI implementations, collaborating closely with teams within the company and across clients. You will work in an exciting and fast-paced environment, leading on projects that bring together talent in the areas of large language models (LLMs), recommender systems, machine learning, deep learning, graph learning, information retrieval, software engineering, and responsible AI. Responsibilities
. Manage innovative AI teams in the area of LLMs, Information Retrieval, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
. Technical leadership in AI teams in the area of LLMs, NLP, Information Retrieval, and Machine Learning.
. Develop and deploy conversational and language understanding models at scale.
. Push the boundaries of AI platforms through innovation and partnership.
. Following and advancing best practices for Responsible AI and privacy preserving Machine Learning.
. Support hiring, coaching, mentoring and career development of AI Engineers and Solutions Architects to build inclusive and ambitious AI solutions focused teams.
. Collaborate closely with internal and customer AI platform teams to create the next generation of AI innovation for our clients' AI-enabled products and services.
. Support and develop a thriving AI Engineering culture that encourages experimentation, scientific process, and innovation.
. Communicate internally and externally through publication, presentations, and other media (eg, blogs, press interviews) on AI research progress, major breakthroughs, and product innovation.
. Internalize and champion our culture and values.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
. PhD in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Statistics, or related areas. Candidates with a Master's degree and industry experience or publication record in the areas of LLMs, Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, or NLP will be considered as well.
. Five or more years managing research or engineering teams in Machine Learning, NLP, Information Retrieval, or related fields.
. Professional experience developing AI models for scaled production services, with a proven track record of successfully shipping applied research to production.
. Excellent problem solving and data analysis skills, with expertise in developing or applying predictive analytics, statistical modelling, data mining, or machine learning algorithms, especially at scale.
. Strong people leadership skills to influence others, with the ability to understand team dynamics, retain, attract, and develop team members.
. Grounded in growth mindset, and advocate for diversity and inclusion.
. Customer obsessed and passionate about AI product impact.
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify and explain complex ideas.
Preferred Qualifications
. Publication record (peer-reviewed academic papers, patents, ML libraries).
. Experience presenting at conferences or other events in the research/industry community as an invited speaker.
. Experience conducting research as part of a research program (in academic or industry settings).
. Experience developing and deploying products or systems at scale at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping.
